Members of the Admiral Inspire Choir visited St David’s Hospice Care to spread a little Christmas cheer.
A group of staff from Admiral’s Newport office donned Christmas jumpers, festive hats and tinsel to sing a medley of festive favourites for patients at the day hospice in Malpas.
The choir, which rehearses once a week at its city centre office and performs at company and external events, sang Winter Wonderland, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Warm this Winter and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
Angela Canellas, complementary therapies and activities manager for St David’s Hospice Care, said: “After the visit to the day hospice, everyone was ‘singing’ the praises of the wonderful Admiral Inspire Choir. The festive songs were a big hit here and we’d all like to thank them so much for taking the time to come out and sing to the patients. We’d love for them to come again and value their support.”
Choir member Tony Witcombe, from the claims department in Admiral’s Newport office said: “It’s such a lovely experience to perform to patients at St David’s Hospice Care. The charity is close to many hearts in the local area and it’s so inspiring to be a part of a choir that perform in an intimate setting for such a worthy cause. It was also great fun and we look forward to returning!”
Admiral has supported St David’s Hospice Care through its sponsorship of the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon since 2014. The company is also sponsoring the 2020 event on Sunday, March 1.
The Admiral Choir was first set up in 2008 and now has around 60 members across the company’s offices in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. The choir regularly takes part in performances which have included Pride Cymru, the opening of the Winter Wonderland in Cardiff, Admiral’s staff general meeting in the Motorpoint Arena and singing the Welsh National Anthem on the pitch at the Principality Stadium.
