PEOPLE from all walks of life have been pulling on their boots and securely fastening their waterproof jackets to conquer the 10k steps a day in May challenge in aid of St David’s Hospice Care.
Among some 180 who have signed up for the challenge are a team from Newport and Pontypool- based solicitors Everett Tomlin Lloyd and Pratt.
Partner Kirsten Tuck joined colleagues to register to do 10k steps a day or more for the month. Through wind and especially rain Kirsten and the rest of the walkers are braving the elements for the sponsored event, which ends on Monday, May 31.
The event, a major fund raiser for the Newport-based hospice, is being sponsored by Newport-based financial services firm Kymin.
Robin Hall, managing director of financial planners Kymin, and team are taking part in the challenge.
Kymin has supported a huge number of events over the years in aid of the hospice.
He said: “It’s never been more important than now to support the hospice which has been experiencing its most challenging time in its forty-plus year history. The daily 10k steps has been a challenge at times but we’re getting there and it’s all for a very good cause.”
Tania Ansell, of St David’s Hospice Care, who is organising the event, said 10k steps a day in May appears to have really grabbed people’s imagination, especially after the privations of lock down.
“The efforts that people have gone to and continue to go to, to complete their 10k steps a day, is awesome.”
